I’m Marcus Myers, founder of BPV Academy, the learning and development platform from BPV Solutions. I help individuals and teams understand building systems, make better technical decisions and grow into greater responsibility. My teaching draws on active practice in commissioning, energy, controls, systems integration and construction quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), along with university teaching, team leadership and business ownership.

My why
I want the next person to see what connects.
People gave me their time, shared what they knew and helped me grow. I have never forgotten that. Teaching gives me a way to pass it on.
When I went back to school around age 30, I saw a gap between the classroom and the field. I kept working, kept learning and kept looking for better ways to connect the two.
That became the reason for BPV. The knowledge we earn on projects should help someone else move forward. A new person should have a path into the work. An experienced person should have room to keep growing.
I enjoy the moment something clicks. When someone can explain why a system behaves the way it does, ask a better question or help a teammate, the learning has become useful.
That is the relationship I want to build with you and your team.
“That is exactly why I teach and train today. So the next generation does not have to learn every lesson the hard way.”

Helping pioneer Cx education at ASU.
Marcus helped build commissioning education at Arizona State University’s Del E. Webb School of Construction from the ground up. He developed introductory and advanced Cx coursework and continues to teach it, bringing decades of professional practice into undergraduate and graduate learning.
Marcus Myers with ASU Building Commissioning students. Teaching people to see the whole project, ask better questions and explain their decisions.
The contribution behind the title
Build the course. Teach the thinking. Connect the people.
Marcus advocated for commissioning in the university curriculum before the first class. Course development began in 2018 with ASU’s construction faculty and grew into introductory and advanced Cx. Students work with project documents and learn to connect building systems, owner requirements, QA/QC, controls, testing and professional judgment.
Marcus uses analogies and real project stories to give unfamiliar ideas a reference point. Students practice asking better questions, explaining cause and effect, recognizing warning signs and making decisions they can defend. BPV brings that approach to your development: understand the work, practice it and learn from feedback.
ASU appointment: Faculty Associate, School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment.
After nearly a decade of teaching, every class still makes me both the teacher and the student. By my estimate, close to 1,000 students have been part of my teaching over those years. They bring questions, experiences and ways of seeing a problem that make me think harder and explain it better.
Some of those former students are now colleagues. We work together, trade project stories and keep learning from each other. Watching someone I once taught find their voice and build a career is an honor. So is getting to be part of their story.
THE CURRICULUM
A whole-project view.
Mechanical and electrical systems. Building enclosures. Controls and energy. Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR) and Basis of Design (BOD). Readiness, testing, communication, risk and business judgment. Students learn how decisions connect across disciplines.
Student Cx binders connect requirements, documentation and verification. Negar Hojjati publicly shared the binder she developed in the advanced course and described how her understanding grew.
Marcus mentored Haley DeVore in turning a shared vision into ASU’s Sun Devil Building Commissioning Club. Cx Devils is student-led, connecting students with industry speakers, professional relationships and leadership opportunities. BPV Academy and Streamline Automation support that work.
Students leading. Practitioners sharing. The learning keeps moving.
Student-led Cx community · Founded in 2026
Cx Devils: the next chapter.
After years of supporting student commissioning education, Marcus founded Cx Devils in 2026. He mentored Haley DeVore in bringing the vision to life, with students leading the club and its activities.
Industry leaders and working practitioners join students for talks, Q&A and conversations about real projects. Students can ask questions, hear how careers develop and start building professional relationships with the people doing the work.
BPV Academy sponsors Cx Devils, supporting student leadership and connections between the classroom and industry. Streamline Automation also supports the club’s work.
A practicing professional. A leader who develops people.
Marcus brings the responsibilities of technical delivery, team leadership and business ownership into the classroom. He still works through the same kinds of decisions your people face.

Explore the career experience behind the teaching
Construction, design and building performance: Marcus’s professional experience spans the work of designing, building, commissioning and operating facilities. Architecture and building energy studies added another way to understand what happens in the field.
CCRD / WSP: Commissioning and energy services work brought together technical delivery, field coordination, client requirements and team development.
Stantec: Regional and later global Cx and energy leadership added the responsibility of helping teams deliver consistently across projects and offices. That included technical work, client development, project management and developing people.
Today, SLA and BPV: As Streamline Automation’s Partner and CTO, Marcus continues to work in Cx, controls, integration and energy. Through BPV, he turns that experience into training, coaching and mentoring for individuals and organizations.
Teaching alongside practice: ASU course creation, university instruction and student mentorship have developed alongside his industry work. The classroom benefits from current projects; the field benefits from asking how to explain the work clearly.
Mentorship in practice: When former ASU student AJ Ladd attended his first ASHRAE commissioning committee meetings in Austin, Marcus introduced him to practitioners and the people developing the guidance. Learning continues through those conversations and relationships.
Marcus’s experience connects construction, design, Cx, energy, automation and technical leadership. Your team learns how one decision affects the next discipline and the people who operate the building.

Contributing to the profession
In the field. In the room. In the conversation.
Marcus’s service spans ASHRAE student leadership beginning in 2010, past presidency of the BCxA Southwest Chapter, and standards and education work across the profession. That experience brings different perspectives into what you and your team learn.
More of Marcus’s background: education, leadership and professional service
Education and practice: Marcus’s ASU education in architecture and building energy systems connects the design of a building with the way it actually performs. His career also includes technical delivery, client development, team leadership and business ownership.
Building Commissioning Association (BCxA): Past Southwest Chapter President and board member. His service includes helping practitioners share experience and helping build the ASU BCxA student chapter, connecting students with the profession.
Living Building Challenge: Ambassador and facilitator experience, including service as co-chair of the Sonoran Collaborative from 2018 to 2021. This work connects buildings with energy, resources, environmental responsibility and the people who use them.
ASHRAE service dating to 2010: ASU student chapter president from 2010 to 2013; Central Arizona chapter secretary in 2016–2017; student-activities leadership from 2017 to 2020; and government-affairs leadership in 2019–2020. That path continued into technical committees and the commissioning guideline work described above.
ASTM, ISPE and IBPSA: The roles above connect enclosure performance, pharmaceutical-industry education and building simulation with Marcus’s wider work in Cx, controls, energy and integration. They bring more perspectives into the way he teaches you to investigate a problem.
What that means for you: You can work with someone who teaches the technical work and the responsibilities around it: asking useful questions, explaining decisions, coordinating with others, developing client relationships and leading a team.
Conference Chair, panel moderator and session presenter at Future Bridge’s 8th U.S. Semiconductor Design, Construction & Engineering Summit.
From construction completion to production readiness, Marcus connects Cx, facility delivery and the people responsible for making it work. Speaking, moderating and teaching are opportunities to share lessons and learn from others.
Marcus contributes to AutomatedBuildings.com, writing about the connections between construction, controls, Cx, systems integration and the people who make them work.
